香港神经退行性疾病研究中心于2020年由香港科技大学成立。中心以科大分子神经科学国家重点实验室的科研成果为基础，与哈佛大学医学院、史丹福大学医学院及伦敦大学学院的研究人员建立战略性合作关系，进行神经退行性疾病的探索，旨在香港建立一个研究神经退行性疾病的科研枢纽。
中心的研究重点是寻找阿尔兹海默症的治疗方法，因为这种病症不仅是神经障碍疾病，亦受到其他因素影响，如免疫系统等。中心透过建立先进的技术平台，有助鉴定周边系统的生物标志组合及免疫系统内的治疗靶点，研发合适的药物，迅速将实验室科研成果转化为临床应用。
香港创新科技署设立的InnoHK创新香港研发平台是香港特区政府的重点项目，旨在发展香港成为环球科研合作中心。Health@InnoHK和AIR@InnoHK创新平台于2019年底成立，前者聚焦医疗相关各种科技，包括药物开发、个人化医疗、分子诊断、生物工程、 化学生物学、生物信息、疫苗研发、医疗仪器及另类疗法等；后者则集中发展人工智能及机械人科技。香港神经退行性疾病研究中心作为Health@InnoHK创新平台项目，能整合各方优势，为世界各地的科学家构建一个协同创新平台，开展跨学科、具重大社会影响的研究。
中心将会启动三个主要的研究计划，目标是发现能用于疾病监测和发展治疗策略的生物标志物，并鉴定用于药物研发的靶点。透过建立最先进的技术流程、平台与模式，这个跨院校的团队期望能通过对疾病机制的探索来推动转化研究，发展更优化的早期诊断和治疗方法。为推动科研转化和临床前期发展，中心将寻求与大湾区及内地的业界伙伴合作，并为学生、研究人员及科学家创造就业和培训机会，为培育科研人才作出贡献。现中心面向全球招聘专业人士加入本团队，详情请看以下招聘启示。
【Research Assistant (Cell Biology) 】
Duties & Responsibilities
Small- and large-scale tissue culture.
Perform various cell treatments such as stimulation with growth factors/cytokines, siRNA-mediated gene silencing, gene overexpression studies, etc.
Perform phenotyping assays such as western blot, RT-qPCR, etc.
Implement and optimize protocols for immunostaining with multiple antibodies.
Confocal and live cell imaging microscopy.
Maintain complete and accurate records, laboratory documentation and electronic files.
Present and discuss project progress at regular team meetings.
Collaborate with other multidisciplinary teams to achieve common goals.
Laboratory maintenance, i.e. ordering laboratory supplies, performing general upkeep, etc.
Preparation of technical reports, summaries and quantitative analysis of data.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Biomedical Sciences or related field.
Willing to work hours during weekdays and weekends depending on experimental needs.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Experience in cell biology- and molecular biology-based laboratory techniques is preferred.
【Research Assistant (Cell Biology-Biologics)】
Duties & Responsibilities
Small- and large-scale tissue culture.
Perform various cell treatments such as virus-mediated gene expression.
Perform phenotyping assays including western blot, RT-qPCR, etc.
Handling of large volumes of conditioned media for preparation of biologics libraries.
Implement and optimize protocols for protein separation and purification using liquid chromatography techniques.
Sample preparation for protein identification using mass-spectrometry.
Maintain complete and accurate records, laboratory documentation and electronic files.
Present and discuss results of experiments within the project team.
Collaboration with other multidisciplinary teams to achieve common goals.
Lab maintenance, i.e. ordering supplies, general upkeep, etc.
Preparation of technical reports, summaries and quantitative analysis.
Requirements

【Research Assistant (Machine Learning)】
Duties & Responsibilities
Collect, manage, and study biological data (microscopy images and/or NGS data), including the use of machine learning and statistical methods to analyse and interpret data for meaningful results.
Implement and/or optimize existing analysis pipelines with inputs from biologists and deliver the insights of the data responsibly and timely.
Maintain good records of the data and analyses performed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Interest in the field of life sciences would be beneficial but prior knowledge in this area is not required.
Strong programming skills, especially with Python. Knowledge of R is a plus.
Ability to implement computer vision algorithms using popular deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, and standard libraries such as OpenCV.
Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively in English.
Curiosity and the professional skillset to excel in an open, highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.
Good organizational skills with an appreciation of software engineering practices and the ability to work independently are required.
Familiarity with the administration of Linux and HPC systems including troubleshooting software installation, deployment, and execution would be an asset.
Knowledge of relational database architecture such as MySQL and PostgreSQL is a plus.
【Research Assistant (Bioinformatics)】
Duties & Responsibilities

【Senior Technical Officer / Technical Officer】
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operation of laboratory facility with a wide range of sophisticated scientific instruments/platforms, such as mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, confocal microscopy, next-generation sequencing, cell sorting, automated single-cell imaging and picking system, automated quantitative multiplex imaging system, automated digital immunoassay.
Develop standard operation procedures and training sessions for lab users.
Assist in purchase, inventory and maintenance of instrument/platforms.
Perform other tasks assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
A bachelor degree or higher degree in biological sciences or related disciplines
Experience in working in life science core facility or hands-on experience in the area(s) above
With strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Highly motivated and fast learning

【Technical Officer (IT)】
Duties & Responsibilities
The appointee will support various research projects within the Center by conducting computational analyses. The appointee will report to a team leader or his delegates and may work closely with graduate students or research staff. This is an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself into an inter-disciplinary field that brings together information technology with biology. Duties include analyzing data sets using existing open-source tools; developing and deploying custom-made scripts or programs that integrate with other tools; maintaining good records of the analyses performed and attend project meetings; providing technical support in the high performance computing servers for research activities in the laboratory; assisting in purchase, inventory and maintenance of IT wares.
Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Interest in the field of life sciences would be beneficial but prior knowledge in this area is not required. Knowledge of Linux-based systems and shell scripting, additional programming skills including Perl, Python, and R., and good organizational skills with an appreciation of software engineering practices and the ability to work independently are required. Familiarity with the administration of Linux systems including troubleshooting software installation, deployment, and execution would be an asset. Applicants should also have strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
Salary and Benefits
A highly competitive salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience in addition to medical and dental benefits as well as annual leave. The appointment will be offered a renewable one-year contract, subject to mutual agreement and performance.
